Dr Pyi Naing

Specialist Cardiologist, Senior Lecturer, University of Queensland
Dr. Pyi Naing is a dual-trained cardiologist and general physician with subspecialty expertise in echocardiography. His clinical and academic interests include the evaluation and management of breathlessness, pulmonary hypertension, chronic heart failure, cardiac risk assessment, and valvular heart disease. Dr. Naing completed his basic physician training at the Gold Coast Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, followed by advanced general medicine training at Royal Darwin Hospital. He undertook advanced cardiology training and an echocardiography fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital—Australia’s premier cardiac centre—where he gained comprehensive skills across all echocardiographic modalities. A dedicated clinician-academic, Dr. Naing holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree from the University of Notre Dame, Australia, and has recently submitted his Ph.D. thesis focusing on novel approaches to improving care for patients with breathlessness. He also serves as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, University of Queensland. Dr. Naing holds a public appointment as Consultant Cardiologist at Caboolture Hospital and delivers compassionate, world-class cardiology and echocardiography service through his private practice, Mandalay Heart Care—named in honour of his beloved hometown.
